Memories
We don't see much of Savera do we?---------
When Savera was ten her family had taken a vacation in the mountains during the winter. It had been an exciting trip, all kinds of winter fun for the entire family.
During the last day however an avalanche started up the mountain. The avalanche demolished the log cabin Savera's family was staying in while the family was inside it.
Rescue crews managed to find Savera, half frozen and barely alive. Only the immediate medical attention she received saved her life.
The rest of her family wasn't so fortunate. The bodies of Savera's father and four year old brother were recovered in the following days. Savera's mother was never found.
Savera, now orphaned, was sent to live with her grandmother, the last living relative she had.
Twelve years later Savera is fully grown, and has returned to the site of the tragedy like she does every year. A memorial to her family had been placed on the site. Never once does Savera forget how close her name was to being added to the names on the stone.
The memory is even more painful this year, as a few months ago Savera's grandmother also passed on. Savera now has no relatives left alive, leaving her as the last of her family line.

This piece was inspired by some music I heard recently. Savera's story has been around for a long time, I've just never shared it before.
I never could quite make a picture fitting to it.
